FAQS

We completely understand your concerns, and ensuring your safety and satisfaction is our utmost priority. The feasibility of installing a roof during rain depends on various factors unique to your project, such as roof slope, rain intensity, material type, and necessary repairs. Generally, light rain poses fewer issues and does not compromise the integrity of the roofing system. As a Seattle-based company, we have experience roofing in light rain, and, in general, there is no compromise to quality. However, heavier rain may require a closer evaluation. Materials like metals can be slippery in wet conditions, and extensive repairs might be impacted.

Rest assured, our decision will always prioritize your safety and overall satisfaction. If you have specific concerns, feel free to reach out, and we’ll be happy to address them!

For flat or low-slope roofs, we recommend single-ply membrane options like PVC or TPO. These materials are quite similar, forming a roofing system that includes essential components such as a vapor seal, polyethylene insulation, coverboard and the crucial PVC or TPO membrane. While commonly used in commercial settings due to their effectiveness, it’s worth noting that they tend to be more expensive than other residential roofing options.

Ultimately, however, our recommendation for the roofing material you should use on your unique home will depend on a number of factors. Submit a free estimate form to get started.

Deciding between repairing or replacing your roof involves considering several factors, including its age, maintenance history, and current damage. If you’re experiencing multiple leaks or noticing a decline in energy efficiency, it could be a sign that a roof replacement is in order. While frequent repairs may accumulate costs, investing in a new roof can offer long-term benefits.

No worries if you can’t be home; we provide a virtual estimate option for your convenience. However, we highly recommend in-person estimates whenever possible. This allows our expert roofers to conduct a thorough analysis of your roof’s condition and discuss the best next steps tailored to your specific needs.

Absolutely! In fact, every window installation we undertake is custom-sized and made to order. Not only are they made to order, but there is also a wide variety of options for windows, including:

  • The way they can open (slide, pull, swing, etc.)
  • The colors (both inside and outside)
  • The type of gas inside the windows
  • Whether the window is one piece or cut into multiple sections.

At Orca Roofing & Exteriors, we believe in giving you the flexibility to create windows that suit your unique preferences. At Orca Roofing & Exteriors, we are Velux certified, offering a range of skylights. Velux provides 4 or 5 standard sizes that are always in stock, making them a cost-effective and efficient choice. While customization is possible, it significantly increases costs and project timelines. Our standard skylights come with versatile features such as options for shades, open/close functionality, solar shades, and solar venting. Notably, the solar panel is built into the skylight, eliminating the need to connect to your system. This ensures a streamlined and convenient solution for your skylight needs.

In most cases, opting for a replacement is a wise choice. At Orca Roofing & Exteriors, we understand that your time and budget are valuable. Our expert team suggests replacement as a cost-effective and efficient solution. Frequently, the expense of new gutters is relatively affordable and the cost of repairs often surpasses the expense of replacement. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for personalized advice tailored to your specific situation.

The frequency of roof maintenance and cleaning depends on your specific surroundings. In open areas, it may be needed every few years. If your home is surrounded by trees or prone to moss growth, more frequent cleaning, perhaps annually or twice a year, may be beneficial.

The lifespan of your roof hinges on the materials it’s made of (both in quality and type), the severity of weather in your area, and the workmanship of your roof’s original installers. The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors reports all common types of roofing should last at least 20 years, though it’s important to remember this is just an average. That’s why we recommend high-quality composite roofing for most homes. Brava Roof Tile’s eco-friendly composite roofing is best-in-class and will last a lifetime, looks great, and is backed by a 50-year warranty.
