Timbertech Decking FAQs

How to clean TimberTech decking?

To clean TimberTech decking, use a soft-bristle brush and a mild soap-and-water solution. For deeper cleaning, TimberTech recommends a composite deck cleaner that’s safe for PVC or capped composite surfaces. Avoid harsh chemicals and pressure washers with high PSI, as they may damage the finish. Regular cleaning helps maintain the look and longevity of your TimberTech composite decking.
TimberTech decking is made of capped polymer or capped composite materials. The capped composite line blends recycled wood fibers and high-performance polymers, while the PVC (polymer) line is made entirely of engineered polymer for maximum durability. Both product lines are designed to resist fading, staining, and moisture damage—making TimberTech ideal for Pacific Northwest weather.

Both TimberTech and Trex are leading brands in composite decking, but TimberTech offers more options in capped polymer decking, which is more resistant to moisture and heat. TimberTech also features a more realistic wood grain and longer warranties on many products. That said, the better option depends on your priorities—budget, texture, color selection, and performance in your specific climate.

Like all composite decking, TimberTech decking can warm up in direct sunlight, especially darker colors. However, TimberTech’s capped polymer boards tend to retain less heat than traditional composites, making them more comfortable underfoot during hot weather. Choosing a lighter deck color and installing in shaded areas can help minimize heat buildup.
